So you’ve heard about Cowboy Church and you are a little curious. Please know we will make every effort to make sure your first experience is worry free. We look forward to connecting with you and becoming friends. Here are some things that you can expect when visiting SVCC.
Do I have to be a cowboy to attend?
Absolutely not! Although many cowboys and cowgirls attend Shepherd’s Valley, folks come from every background and walk of life. If you enjoy inspirational country music, and if you like to rub elbows with down-to-earth people, if you want clear, simple sermons you can actually understand and apply to your life, then you will fit right in.
What should I wear?
The majority of people at Shepherd’s Valley will wear boots and jeans, many will wear hats or caps, some will wear shorts, and a few will wear suits or dresses. All of these are appropriate. The bottom line: wear whatever is comfortable for you. There is no pretense here. The person in shorts and a ball cap is as welcome as the one in jeans and boots, and the really neat thing is, no one will even notice the difference. Boots are optional! At Shepherd’s Valley we make ourselves at home with God and each other. So put your comfortable clothes on and come as you are. We believe that what you wear doesn’t and shouldn’t get in the way of worshiping God.
What Should I Expect?
When you arrive you will notice things are a little different at SVCC. We have a causal atmosphere, friendly people, great worship, and free coffee. There will be volunteers ready to greet you and answer any questions you have.
Our service will be about an hour and a half long. We start with our band leading worship with a blend of contemporary and traditional music. After worship and a few announcements we break for halftime. This is a 5-10 minute break so you can refresh your coffee cup, grab a biscuit, and meet some new people. After halftime, Pastor Russ Weaver delivers a relevant, biblical message.
Do you have programs for my children?
Yes! You can take the most important people in the building to the child check-in area. Our wonderful volunteers are helping with our little ones so you can focus on having a great experience in the service. Their background checks have been cleared and they have been trained through a risk management course. Our leaders will give 100% to their care while making it a fun experience learning lessons from the Bible. We have a fully staffed nursery for the littlest ones and we offer three different age-appropriate classes in a high energy environment that your bigger kids are sure to love.Have older kids? We offer classes for junior high and high school students as well.
What is the worship like?
We have worked hard to provide you with an experience where you can connect with God. The band plays a relevant style of music that blends contemporary and traditional music that you will enjoy. Their passion for God is contagious. Words will be on the screen for you to follow. You may see some people expressing their love for God by closing their eyes, clapping, and even raising their hands. We believe in worshiping God in spirit and in truth and you can express that however you feel most comfortable.
What about the teaching?
Pastor Russ Weaver has a style that is relational and to the point. He is passionate about how the Bible leads us into truth as well as inspires our everyday living. We use video, music, drama, or other creative methods to make learning interesting for you.
